BannLynchMcDade Golf Coaching was formed in 1996 by Steven Bann, Dale Lynch and Denis McDade.  All former Head Coaches of the renowned Victorian Institute of Sport Golf Program, they were instrumental in developing the games of Tour Pros such as Stuart Appleby, Robert Allenby, Geoff Ogilvy, Aaron Baddeley, Marc Leishman and Marcus Fraser.   Steve, Dale and Denis have each won the Victorian and Australian PGA Coach of the Year award multiple times. 

Along with guiding the careers of Tour Pros, BLM have been committed to improving the games of recreational and club golfers since the mid-1980’s, having run successful coaching academies at Albert Park Driving Range, Melbourne Golf Academy and Yarra Bend Golf Course, where they and their team of coaches work to improve the games of golfers of all levels of ability.

Our Teaching Professionals

DENIS MCDADE

Denis McDade has been a Member of the PGA of Australia for over 30 years.  He served his PGA Traineeship at Royal Melbourne and Keysborough Golf Clubs.  He played competitively around Australia for 3 years before focusing solely on coaching. 

He was Scholarship Coach at the Australian Institute of Sport Golf Program in 1995 & 1996 and coached at the Victorian Institute of Sport Golf Program for 11 years, spending 5 years as Assistant Coach and 6 years as Head Coach. 

The Touring Professionals that Denis has coached have won on every major PGA Tour in the world.  These players include Marc Leishman, Marcus Fraser, Paul Sheehan, Matthew Griffin, Ashley Hall and Gareth Paddison. 

Denis was awarded Australian PGA Teacher of the Year in 2012 and 2017, Victorian PGA Teacher of the Year in 2001, 2017 and 2018 and Australian Golf Digest Coach of the Year in 2008 & 2012.

As Head of the Titleist Performance Institute Junior Advisory Board, Denis has dedicated himself for well over a decade to researching and improving the way in which junior golf programs are structured and delivered.  He presents at TPI Junior Certification seminars around the world several times a year, where he instructs coaches, medical professionals and fitness trainers on setting up and running junior golf programs.

Although he has built a reputation as a successful elite coach, Denis has coached club and recreational golfers non-stop for 30+ years.

STUART BYRNES

Starting golf at the age of 14, Stuart went on to play Junior pennant for Moorabbin Municipal Golf Club at the age of 15. He joined Keysborough Golf Club in 1980 and was a Junior member there for two years. In 1983 he became a Trainee Professional at Royal Melbourne Golf Club and completed his traineeship in 1986. During the next 5 years, Stuart worked part-time at both Keysborough and Elsternwick Golf Clubs, as well as teaching at the Sandringham Driving Range.

In 1991 Stuart was appointed as the Golf Shop manager and golf instructor at the Peninsula Country Golf Club. Between 1985 and 1994 Stuart played in many tournaments including Pro-Am events throughout Victoria as well as Victorian Opens, Victorian PGAs,  and other National events. Stuart also played in the 1989 Australian Open at Kingston Heath Golf Club.

Stuart’s greatest tournament victory was the 2003 Murray Masters, played at Yarrawonga.

Adam has a passion for the game and a calm and relaxed coaching style. The game when analyzed can be incredibly complex, however it should be be taught plainly and simply. Adam likes to combine on course learning with the technical aspects to ensure the golfer sees the bigger picture. After all, anybody can do it on the range!

CAT ODGERS

Cat completed her PGA traineeship at both Growling Frog Golf Club and Woodlands Golf Club. Prior to completing her traineeship, Cat spent four years at Oklahoma Christian University playing college golf while studying a bachelor of sports in wellness and recreational management. During her time there, Cat achieved All American (top 10) at the NCCAA National Championships and had several other top five finishes.

Cat is available for both individual coaching and group clinics.

 

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. 9am-4pm. Other times available via appointment. $75 (30mins), $135 (1 hour) Lesson Package on application.

TIM WALKER

Tim is a second year Associate PGA Member (formerly called PGA Trainee). Tim currently has a handicap of +5.4 and brings a great amount of knowledge of the golf industry with him. Tim attended Mississippi State University for four years where he studied marketing.

Tim’s career best tournament finish was in a college event where he shot -17 over three rounds to win the event, and also took out the Jack Nicklaus award in 2014 for being the best player in the NJCAA division.

MARCUS FRASER

Marcus brings over 22 years of tournament playing experience with him. Marcus is available for a range of sessions including putting, short game and on-course improvement sessions, where members will improve their skills as they play and practice alongside him. Having played over 500 professional tournaments worldwide, including 13 major championships and representing Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Marcus is passionate about passing on his knowledge to the PK membership.

Playing Lessons

Having trouble on the course, why not have an on course playing lesson and see the course from a professional’s point of view. Our PGA Professionals have helped many of their pupils through on course tuition, helping them understand where to position the ball around the course, playing to their strengths and also learning new shots on the course and around the greens. Prices available on request. Group Lessons can also be arranged, contact the Pro Shop for more information.

Practice Facilities

Range balls are available between the hours of 7:00am – 5:00pm and 7:00am – 5:30pm in daylight saving times. Range Balls are for use on the driving range only. Members and Visitors are required to use their own balls on the pitching and chipping green area. Only golf balls supplied by the Pro Shop are permitted on the driving range. Players must not retrieve balls from the range.

We are pleased to be able to offer this service to our Members and visitors. We take pride in our workmanship, with all repairs performed by PGA professionals. All components are of the highest quality and all repairs are made using the latest technology.
